My name is Amy Hong and I am 21 years old. I am currently a senior Biology major at the University of Maryland, College Park. As my undergrad career nears it's end, I was looking to go abroad one last time. After learning about Child Family Health International from a friend, I decided to attend an informational meeting. That's when I was hooked with CFHI's Dentistry and Oral Health program. I applied for the 2 week January 2014 program in Quito, Ecuador. CFHI is a non-profit organization that provides students with health education programs in undeserved countries abroad. The programs combine intensive Spanish classes (if needed) and clinical rotations. Though I grew up in a Hispanic family, I've never traveled to South America. I knew this trip would be perfect for improving my Spanish skills and gaining great dental experience.
